The 5 Biggest Biotech Stocks Of Them All

If you’re in the market, you know biotech is big, and the industry has been big for quite some time.

As a matter of fact, biotechnology has been the 2nd best performing industry over the last two years.

Biotech stocks obviously come in all different shapes and sizes. Some investors like the small-caps, others prefer the middle of the road mid-caps.

And as hot as the industry has been, the IPO’s are often gobbled up as well.

However, at the end of the day, the big biotechs are the ones that make the headlines. And which biotechs are the biggest?

Below is a list of the 5 biggest biotech stocks by market capitalization.

The biotech stock with the 5th largest market cap is Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: REGN).

Regeneron’s market cap currently sits at just over $41 billion. The stock closed at $408.69 on Friday.

The 4th largest biotech stock is the very well known Biogen Idec (NASDAQ: BIIB).

Biogen’s market cap is over double that of Regeneron at above $83 billion. Biogen closed on Friday at $352.75/share.

Coming in as the 3rd biggest biotech stock on the block is Celgene Corp (NASDAQ: CELG).

Celgene has a market capitalization of $97 billion. The stock is starting the week at $121.81/share.

The 2nd largest biotech stock by market cap is Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN).

With a market cap of $120 billion, Amgen is actually a distant 2nd from the largest biotech of them all.

Not surprisingly, the biggest biotech of them all is Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ: GILD).

Gilead is bigger than both Biogen and Regeneron put together with a market cap of over $151 billion. Gilead closed on Friday at $100.71.

Obviously, investors must conduct their own due diligence before investing in any stock.
